Brookings police blotter

The police blotter is a public record of incidents as reported by law-enforcement agencies. All individuals arrested or charged with a crime are innocent until proven guilty. The information printed is preliminary and subject to change.

Wednesday 9/1:

  • At 8:37 a.m. the police responded to the Miller BAr after a caller reported threats.
  • At 10:48 a.m. the police responded to the 800 block of Railroad avenue after a caller reported harassment. A patient was cited for harassment of a clinic employee after physically shoving her; he was released with a citation.
  • At 11:03 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Elk and ROss. The driver was given a verbal warning for expired registration and driving outside restrictions.
  • At 12:55 p.m. the police responded to the intersection of Chetco Avenue and Bridge street after a caller reported a traffic crash with no injury. Officers assisted parties involved in a minor fender bender with exchanging information.
  • At 2:40 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of old county road and fir street. The driver was given a verbal warning for an expired registration.
  • At 2:42 p.m. the police responded to the 300 block of 5th street after a caller reported theft. An adult female was arrested for theft 2 and released with court citation.
  • At 3:01 p.m. the police conducted a traffic  stop at the intersection of Chetco Avenue and Harris beach. The driver was given a verbal warning for speeding.
  • At 3:16 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Oak street and chetco avenue. The driver was given a verbal warning for an improper turn.
  • At 4:35 p.m. the police responded to the 600 block of Old county road after a caller reported disorderly conduct. A juvenile male was warned for trespass and disorderly conduct.
  • At 7:33 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of harris beach and chetco avenue. The driver was given a verbal warning for speeding.
  • At 9:30 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop on Chetco Avenue. The driver was given a verbal warning for an illegal u-turn.
  • At 11:44 p.m. the police responded to the 300 block of North Indian Road after a caller reported a traffic crash with no injury.

Thursday 9/2:

  • At 00:57 a.m. the police responded to the 900 block of 3rd street after a caller reported criminal mischief. A vehicle was egged by a passing car, plate is known and officers are looking for the suspect vehicle.
  • At 1:54 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop on Railroad Street. Juveniles driving outside provisional restrictions and out after curfew were returned to parents/guardians.
  • At 7:56 a.m. the police responded to the 1100 block of Ransom Avenue after a caller reported illegal camping. Several male were located camping inside the State Park. All were moved along and warned about city ordinance.
  • At 8:57 a.m. the police responded to Bridge street after a caller reported an unlawful entry motor vehicle. A female was warned for theft as well as unlawful entry into a motor vehicle after officers responded to a call from two males who were sleeping in a vehicle.

  • At 9:51 a.m. the police conducted a welfare check at the 600 block of Old COunty Road.
  • At 1:27 p.m. the police responded to the 1300 block of Seacrest Lane after a caller reported a missing person. A child was located by officers after the family reported the child and a bicycle missing from home.
  • At 2:32 p.m. the police responded to Mill Beach after a caller reported a hit and run.
  • At 7:11 p.m. firefighters responded to the 700 block of 2nd street after a caller reported a fire. Brookings Fire and Harbor Fire responded to a fire that started in a bedroom. Fire departments were able to put the fire out within a short amount of time.
  • At 7:43 p.m. firefighters responded to Payne Road after a caller reported an illegal burn.
  • At 8:55 p.m. firefighters responded to Chetco Avenue after a caller responded to suspicious conditions. Brookings fire responded to a report of a power pole arcing and throwing sparks. Coos Curry Electric was contacted and performed necessary repairs.

Friday 9/3:

  • At 7:52 a.m. the police responded to the 800 block of Chetco avenue after a caller reported a fight. Officers responded to a dispute between an employee and a female at a local business after being flagged down by a concerned citizen. Parties separated and no crimes were committed.
  • At 9:03 a.m. the police conducted a welfare check at the 1500 block of highway 101 south. At 10:27 am the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of pacific and oak street.
  • At 11:49 a.m. the police conducted a welfare check on highway 101.
  • At 1:35 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of chetco avenue and harris beach.
  • At 2:24 p.m. the police responded to highway 101 near Natural Bridges after a caller reported a traffic crash with no injury.
  • At 9:15 p.m. the police responded to the 1100 block of Fifield Street after a caller reported strangulation. A male was arrested and transported to jail for domestic strangulation after responding to a dispute call.
  • At 9:47 p.m. firefighters responded to the 15500 block of OCeanview drive after a caller reported an illegal burn.
  • At 11:20 p.m. the police responded to the 98100 block of Benham Lane after a caller reported a dispute.

Sunday 9/5:

  • At 11:40 a.m. the police responded to the 800 block of Chetco Avenue after a caller reported a hit and run.
  • At 11:51 a.m. the police responded to Indian Court after a caller reported theft.
  • At 1:39 p.m. the police conducted a welfare check at the 15600 block of highway 101 south.
  • At 4:28 p.m. firefighters responded to Taylor Creek road after a caller reported an illegal burn.
  • At 4:34 p.m. the police responded to the 1000 block of Chetco Avenue after a caller reported theft. Money was stolen from a tip jar.
  • At 8:26 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of fern street and elk drive. The driver was given a verbal warning for driving without lights when required and failing to Insure the vehicle. The vehicle is parked until  it can be towed to residence.
  • At 8:54 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of center and highway 101. The driver was given a verbal warning for an illegal u-turn.
  • At 9:41 p.m. the police responded to the 300 block of Mill Beach Road after a caller reported a fight. Verbal dispute between adults, who were advised to leave the area.
  • At 10:57 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of highway 101 and easy street. The driver was given a verbal warning for failing to maintain the lane of travel three times.
  • At 11:42 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at Fred Meyers parking lot. A verbal warning was given to the driver for failing to signal.
