Port O’ Pints Brewing from Crescent City sponsored the first place team for the fourth year in a row — We Are All Onesie — at Chetco Brewing’s annual Beat the Brewers run held last Saturday (April 27) in Brookings.

The team, listed as Scott Little, Dar C and Jennifer Campbell, ran a 35:35 in onesies, and was followed by Hops, Yeast and Barley — sponsored by the Chetco running Club — at 38.32.

Town and Country Animal Clinic’s Mermaid Squad — primarily a walking team — managed last place at the annual event held at the Chetco Brewery. They ran a time of 1:10:05. Team times were scored with handicaps according to gender and age.

As contestants and spectators sipped beers and ate barbecue, the Electric Angels posed for pix in their first-place costumes.

"It was an amazing experience with such wonderful people,” angel Alicia McLean said. “We are so glad the Electric Angels could come and flaunt our ‘fits.”

Angel Lynda Sellars chose the costume, made the tutus, bought the rug for the boots and did the work, according to teammate Victoria Powell; McLean chose the name.

According to Chetco Brewing co-owner and race manager Alex Carr-Frederick, the angels – one of many teams sponsored by Town and Country Animal Clinic – ran in a time of “Who cares, they looked fabulous.”

Frederick, who noted every team was costumed this year, pointed to Town and Country and the local US Bank as key contributors to the event.

“With the generous support of Town and Country Animal Clinic and the staff being so involved and creative – Amber and John (Jacobson) sponsoring all of their teams, they just make the event 10 times better than it would be without them,” Frederick said, “and U.S. Bank donates parking and volunteer hours.”

A bounce-house was included at the event to entertain children, and two food trucks prepared meals – one serving vegan fair and one for meat lovers – to pair with Chetco’s beers.
