The results are in for two of Salmon Run’s biggest events of the summer as the Silver Salmon Invitational wrapped up last weekend. The Brookings Business league also finished their season with Freeman Rock coming in at first.

A Salmon Run team consisting of Tracy LeJeune, Pam Deraita, Wendy Hughes and June Podesta took Best Ball at the Silver Salmon with a gross of 152. The first place for Team Low Net was made up of Vicki Nolan, Karen Smith, Susan Strahan, Jan Carrico from Redwood Empire Golf & Country Club with a net score of 164.9.

The top individual players were June Podesta with a low gross of 82 and Pam Deraita with a low net of 60.

Cameron Kime of the Bruins golf team won the Bandon Crossing Youth on Course tournament after shooting an 86. He competes again today at Salmon Run.


Foggy weather continues to keep Salmon Run fairly cool, yet occasionally humid. The first signs of smoke have drifted into the Brookings, but have had minimal impact so far.

Coming up

Salmon Run’s Youth on Course Golf tournament starts today at 9 a.m. The shotgun style tournament will host 11 youth golfers from five age categories, with the senior boys division starting things off at 9 a.m. Local golfing prodigy Lucas Vanderlip will also tee off at 9 AM in the 10-11 age group. The course will be open for the duration.

The course will also host several weddings later this month.
