UPDATE: On Friday Dec. 2 Josephine Golden safely returned home. The Grants Pass Police Department thanked everyone that assisted looking for her.
A 72-year-old Grants Pass woman is being reported missing one day after Curry County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue made contact with her and escorted her to Gold Beach.
On Nov. 29 Josephine Golden, 72, was located by Curry County Search and Rescue in the early evening hours on a remote road near the Lobster Creek area. Search and Rescue personnel provided Golden with fuel for her vehicle and escorted her back into town.
Golden’s vehicle was observed in the Grants Pass area the following day on Nov. 30, at approximately 8:00 p.m., but she reportedly has yet to return home.
According to the Grants Pass Police Department, Golden has been demonstrating uncharacteristic behavior and confusion as of late, and she has been entered as a missing person.
Josephine Golden drives a dark purple, 2015 Toyota Scion XB, with Oregon license plate 652 LGX.
The Grants Pass Police Department is asking the public to report any sightings of Golden or her vehicle, or if you have information about her possible whereabouts. Due to winter weather conditions, any assistance from community members could make a significant impact on ensuring Golden’s safe return home.
Anyone with information about Josephine Golden can contact the Grants Pass Police Department at 541-450-6260 and reference case #22-52403.

Curry County Sheriff’s Office
On Tuesday, Nov. 29 at about 4:40 p.m., the Curry County Sheriff’s Office 911 dispatch received a call from Jim Cole of Gold Beach, reporting that while he was traveling on a back road about thirty miles from Gold Beach, he discovered a woman who was about out of gas and had been lost up there for a few days.
The woman did not want to leave her car, had no idea where she was, so Cole drove down to where he could get cell service and called the Sheriff’s Office.
Dispatch advised Sheriff’s Search and Rescue and gave the general location of where the woman, seventy-two-year-old Josephine Golden out of Grants Pass, Or, may have been according to Cole. The area was about thirty miles east of Gold Beach, above the Lobster Creek area where there are many spur roads that are not traveled very often. SAR members, Wendy Lang, Brandy Allen and Josie Piper responded to the area and located Golden. SAR members gave Golden some gas and then escorted her back out of the area. Sheriff John Ward commended his team and gave thanks to Jim Cole for reporting the issue.
