Four Brookings residents were displaced after a structure fire caused significant damage, according to Brookings Fire & Rescue Operations Chief Jim Watson.
The Brookings and Harbor were dispatched to the fire near Azalea park just before 2 p.m. Tuesday. The fire was knocked down and under control before 2:20 p.m., and there were no injuries associated with the fire, according to Watson.
"The structure suffered severe damage and all of the contents were destroyed either by direct fire impingement or smoke damage," Watson wrote in a press release.
The individuals who lived in the home and a nearby outbuilding have been connected with the Red Cross for assistance.
The Brookings Fire Department was assisted by the Brookings Police Department, Harbor Fire, Cal-Ore Life Fight, Smith River Fire Department. Brookings Public Works and Cape Ferrelo Fire Department, according to Watson.
Watson said the cause of the fire appears to be "electrical in nature."
