Curry County Clerk Reneé Kolen reminds residents who are new to the State of Oregon the deadline to register to participate in the upcoming election is April 27.
“If a voter who is currently registered has moved or changed a mailing address, they need to update their address by Election Day. Oregon law does not allow the post office to forward ballots” Kolen said.
All Curry County voters, depending on what taxing districts you live in,s will be voting on school, port, fire, library, cemetery, health, water and sanitary district candidates.
Voter registration cards are available at your local post office and on line at www.oregonvotes.gov or you may contact the County Clerk’s Elections Office so they can make arrangements to get you registered.
“Ballot packets will be mailed out to registered voters between April 28th and May 4th. If you have not received your ballot packet by May 4th, or need help in registering, please call our office at (541) 247-3297” Kolen added.
Voters can use an official ballot drop site located at the Curry County Courthouse as well as city halls in Brookings and Port Orford.
Postage is not required should a voter choose to mail their ballot and should be mailed no later than May 8 to insure that their ballot is received by 8 p.m. Election Day May 18.
An elector may verify that their ballot has been received by the Election Office through the Oregon Secretary of State’s website at www.oregonvotes.gov “My Vote.”
