Looking for vets

Members of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Cape Sebastian Chapter, provide information at the Curry County Memorial Day ceremony.

Daughters of the American Revolution, Cape Sebastian Chapter participated in a flag folding ceremony at the Memorial Day ceremony on May 30 at the Curry County Veterans Memorial. Chapter members also provided information on the upcoming Wreaths Across America Mobile Education Exhibit that will be in Gold Beach on Aug. 30 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the Curry County Fairgrounds.

At the WAA Mobile Education Exhibit, Vietnam veterans who have not received a Vietnam Veteran 50th Commemorative lapel pin and who served in the United States Armed Forces at any time during the period of November 1, 1955 to May 15, 1975, regardless of location, are eligible to receive a lapel pin and a welcome home hat at the exhibit. There is no distinction between veterans who served in-country, in-theater or who were stationed elsewhere during the Vietnam War period. All were called to serve, none could self-determine where they were stationed, and all were seen in the same way by a country that could not separate the war from the warrior, as we do today.

If you are an eligible Vietnam veteran, call 541-247-2371 so you can be honored you at the mobile education exhibit ceremony.
