Due to recent resignations, Curry County is seeking applicants from north (Coos County border to Sisters Rock), central (Sisters Rock to Burnt Hill Creek), and south (Burnt Hill Creek to the California border) county who would like to serve on the Curry County Parks and Recreation Advisory committee with terms expiring November 6, 2022.
The Curry County Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee acts as a referral agency to the Curry County Board of Commissioners, other Curry County boards, commissions and committees and county administration and departments with respect to all matters pertaining to park properties and recreation activities. The duties includethe study and recommendation of present and future overall park needs; short-term and long-range planning for parks needs and uses, including identifying and prioritizing acquisition, development and decommissioning of parks lands and recreation programs; inventorying and categorizing classes of county parks to evaluate level of service for county citizens; advise during creation, revision and amendment of county parks master plan as segment of county comprehensive pan; review and advise on operational and maintenance policies and parks use rules; consider financial needs and resources of the county parks including fees for services; hold hearings to take public comment on any matter under consideration of the committee; coordinate county parks and recreation programs and resources with federal, state and local parks and recreation programs and resources; and enlist assistance and cooperation from non-governmental entities for accomplishment of county parks acquisition, development, maintenance, operation, programming and financing.
