In an emailed release at 7:35 p.m., Public Health Administrator Sherrié R. Ward reported three new confirmed positive cases of COVID-19. This report came after we posted our 6 p.m. update today.

Ward said that  just after 5 p.m. today her office eceived notification from Curry General Hospital of the three new cases, bringing the county's total to 18 with 13 recovered, five active, zero hospitalizations and zero deaths.

She said Public Health has reached out to all three subjects and at this point is still trying to contact one of them. The other two individuals have been notified and are self- isolating and monitoring symptoms.

One of the three who tested positive today is from out of state and will be referred back to that state but while here the person is self-isolating and monitoring symptoms, Ward noted.

Due to contract tracing from a positive case reported on Aug. 6, Public Health is expecting that there may be more positive cases, as testing is being done on some co-workers who may have been exposed to the employee who had tested positive. She did not disclose the workplace where those being tested work.
