A Curry County man is behind bars after being caught Tuesday with three ounces of heroin, a large amount of cash and a firearm.
Curry County Sheriff John Ward said deputies were called to the Beachfront Inn at 11:19 p.m. Tuesday after someone called 911 reporting a suspicious man in the lobby carrying a firearm.
Deputy Josh Teter responded to the Beachfront Inn and recognized Timothy J. Lycett Jr., from previous contacts. From outside, Teter could see a firearm in Lycett’s back pocket.
Teter approached Lycett and put him in custody on a charge of a felon in possession of a weapon.
While searching Lycett, Teter located three ounced of suspected heroin and $2,632 in cash. The suspected heroin has a street value of around $5,000.
Lycett was transported to the Curry County Jail, where he is being held on unlawful possession of heroin, unlawful distribution of heroin and felon in possession of a weapon charges.
The Curry County Sheriff’s Office is continuing the investigation.
