The Brookings Elks Lodge is seeking food donations for its Christmas food baskets.
The organization will be out in force from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on Dec. 7 and 8 at both the Grocery Outlet store in Harbor and the Fred Meyer store in Brookings to gather items, which will be distributed Dec. 21.
Shoppers can pick up a list from the Elks’ volunteer tables as they enter the stores, then drop off items they’ve purchased on their way out.
Donations can also be dropped off from Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m.-3 p.m., and on Friday from 8 a.m.-noon at the Elks Lodge, 800 Elk Dr.
Items on the food basket shopping list range from turkeys and hams to stuffing, gravy, Jello, potatoes, cranberry sauce, and canned vegetables such as green beans and corn.
They organization provides 300 to 350 baskets each year to people whose names have been submitted by local veterans’ groups, the Oasis Shelter and Oregon Coast Community Action.
