Brookings police blotter

The police blotter is a public record of incidents as reported by law-enforcement agencies. All individuals arrested or charged with a crime are innocent until proven guilty. The information printed is preliminary and subject to change.

Tuesday 9/28:

  • At 1:52 a.m. the police conducted a welfare check at the 1600 block of highway 101. Officers contacted an intoxicated male adult who had been reported by citizens as yelling for help. He had been unable to make his way out of some bushes due to his level of intoxication.
  • At 8:14 a.m. the police responded to the 800 block of Railroad street after a caller reported illegal camping. A male sleeping on a company property was formally trespassed and left with his belongings as directed.
  • At 9:50 a.m. the state police responded to MP 353 on highway 101 after a caller reported a tree was down.
  • At 11:09 a.m. the police conducted a welfare check on Railroad street.
  • At 2:20 p.m. the police responded to the 97800 block of shopping center avenue after a caller reported an animal complaint.
  • At 4:16 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of center and highway 101. The driver was given a verbal warning for failing to maintain the lane of travel.
  • At 5:32 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of chetco avenue and alder street. The driver was given a verbal warning for speeding.
  • At 5:43 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop on Chetco Avenue. The driver was given a verbal warning for an unsafe left turn.
  • At 7:08 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of parkview drive and highway 101. The driver was given a verbal warning for speeding.
  • At 7:41 p.m. the police responded to the 600 block of Old County Road after a caller reported illegal camping. People camping illegally at Azalea Park were directed to move along and did so.

Wednesday 9/29:

  • At 00:23 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of chetco avenue and 5th street. The driver was given a verbal warning for defective equipment - the headlight was out.
  • At 7:26 a.m. the police responded to Lucky Lane after a caller reported illegal camping. A male sleeping in a vehicle was reminded of city ordinance and moved along as directed.
  • At 7:29 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of highway 101 and lucky lane. The driver was given a verbal warning for speeding and failing to maintain the lane of travel.
  • At 8:01 a.m. the police responded to the 1600 block of highway 101 N after a caller reported theft. Guest of Harris Beach State Park reported that an unkm=nown suspect stole his bicycle during the night.
  • At 11:02 a.m. the police responded to the 1300 block of seacrest lane after a caller reported criminal mischief.
  • At 2:41 p.m. the police conducted a welfare check at the 800 block of Limbaugh way.
  • At 6:06 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of chetco avenue and bridge street. The driver was given a verbal warning for failing to maintain the lane of travel and failing to obey traffic control devices.
  • At 7:41 p.m. the police responded to the 600 block of Old County Road after a caller reported disorderly conduct. A citizen was arrested for 3 counts of menacing after pointing a firearm at transients on St Timothy’s Church property.
  • At 9:58 p.m. the police responded to the 15900 block of Oceanview drive after a caller reported harassment over the phone.

Thursday 9/30:

  • At 00:09 a.m. the police responded to the17300 block of Blueberry Drive after a caller misused 911. A female was arrested for domestic harassment, misuse of 911 and disorderly conduct. She was transported and lodged in jail.
  • At 7:03 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of highway 101 and oak street.
  • At 8:05 a.m. the police responded to the intersection of Oak street and chetco avenue after a caller reported a traffic crash with injury.
  • At 12:12 p.m. the police responded to MP 353 on highway 101 after a caller reported a tree wss down.
  • At 2:02 p.m. the police responded to the 800 block of pioneer road after a caller reported theft.
  • At 2:30 p.m. the police responded to the 500 block of Pacific after a caller reported disorderly conduct. A male was arrested for Disorderly conduct as well as criminal mischief and was lodged in jail.
  • At 3:42 p.m. the police responded to chetco avenue after a caller reported a hit and run.
  • At 3:56 p.m. the police responded to rainbow rock road after a caller reported a tree was down.
  • At 6:01 p.m. the police conducted a welfare check at the 98600 block of Camellia Drive.
  • At 7:45 p.m. the police responded to the 1200 block of hib street after a caller reported a fight.

Friday 10/01:

  • At 6:48 a.m.the police responded to the 95596 block of Martin Ranch Road after a caller reported harassment over the phone.
  • At 9:53 a.m. the police responded to the 845 block of Highland Road after a caller reported an animal complaint.
  • At 12:30 p.m. firefighters responded to the 700 block of 4th street after a caller reported an illegal burn.
  • At 5:07 p.m. the police responded to the 96300 block of Foxglove after a caller reported an animal complaint.
  • At 5:12 p.m. the police responded to the 6500 block of Lucky Lane after a caller reported threats.
  • At 8:07 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop on Chetco Bridge.
  • At 9:11 p.m. the police responded to the 400 block of Fir Street after a caller reported illegal camping. A male and female were warned about illegal camping within city limits and moved along.
  • At 10:10 p.m. the police responded to Roady Creek after a caller reported shots were fired.
  • At 10:40 p.m. the police conducted a welfare check on E Hoffeldt Lane.

Saturday 10/02: No reports

Sunday 10/03:

  • At 4:04 a.m. the police conducted a warrant service at the 400 block of Smith Drive. A female was cited on a misdemeanor warrant and counseled for disorderly conduct.
  • At 4:36 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop on Lucky Lane. The driver was given a verbal warning for defective equipment.
  • At 10:22 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of highway 101 and parkview. The driver was given a verbal warning for speeding.
  • At 11:09 a.m. the police responded to the 1000 block of Chetco avenue after a caller reported criminal trespass. A male was formally trespassed from a local business.
  • At 1:41 p.m. the police conducted a welfare check at the intersection of 4th street and easy street.
  • At 2:53 p.m. the police responded to the 7200 block of Vista Ridge Road after a caller reported a fight. Officers responded to a dispute between neighbors regarding vegetation.
  • At 4:08 p.m. the police conducted a warrant service on the south side of the Chetco Bridge. A male was arrested on a valid misdemeanor warrant and released with a citation.
  • At 4:13 p.m. the police responded to the 16100 block of highway 101 after a caller reported theft.
  • At 8:37 p.m. the police responded to the intersection of highway 101 and stateline after a caller reported a traffic crash with injury.

Monday 10/04:

  • At 8:43 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of highway 101 and arnold. The driver was given a verbal warning for speeding.
  • At 10:02 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of highway 101 and harris beach. The driver was cited for operating without drive privilege and speeding 63mph in a 35mph area.
  • At 10:11 a.m. the police responded to the 900 block of Chetco avenue after a caller reported theft. A female attempted to steal items and was formally trespasse from the store and property.
  • At 10:30 a.m. the police responded to the 1200 block of Moore street after a caller reported criminal mischief. A vehicle was damaged by an unknown suspect(s).
  • At 12:08 p.m. the police responded to the 800 block of Fawn street after a caller reported a hit and run.
  • At 1:10 p.m. the police conducted a warrant service at the 800 block of Chetco Avenue. An adult male was arrested on a valid felony warrant and transported to jail without incident.
  • At 2:07 p.m. the police conducted a welfare check at the 300 block of 5th street.
  • At 3:22 p.m. the police responded to the 400 block of Mill Beach Road after a caller reported an intoxicated subject.
  • At 7:12 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop on Old County Road. The driver was given a verbal warning for failing to obey traffic control devices.
  • At 8:44 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop on Chetco avenue. The driver was given a verbal warning for speed racing.
  • At 9:18 p.m. the police responded to the 500 block of Railroad avenue after a caller reported a dispute. A female adult was arrested for domestic assault and transported to jail without incident.
  • At 11:27 p.m. the police responded to the 300 block of 5th street after a caller reported a hit and run.
