Brookings police blotter

The police blotter is a public record of incidents as reported by law-enforcement agencies. All individuals arrested or charged with a crime are innocent until proven guilty. The information printed is preliminary and subject to change.

Wednesday 12/08:

At 8:02 a.m. the police responded to the 1200 block of Moore Street after a caller reported parking violation. An illegally parked motor home was tagged for tow.

At 1:27 p.m. the police responded to the intersection of Chetco Avenue and 5th Street after a caller reported a traffic crash with no injury.

At 4:20 p.m. the police responded to the 17300 block of Blueberry Lane after a caller reported theft.

At 5:15 p.m. the police responded to Bridge Street after a caller reported trespassing. Three males sleeping on private property were advised of their trespass and gathered their belongings.

At 5:52 p.m. the police responded to the 300 block of 5th Street after a caller reported suspicious conditions. Potential shoplifters abandoned their cart of items in the store and left the property without being contacted.

At 7:04 p.m. the police responded to the 800 block of Elk Drive after a caller reported loitering. A male sleeping in front of city hall was contacted by an officer and moved along as directed.

Thursday 12/09:

At 7:25 a.m. the police responded to Bridge Street after a caller reported illegal camping.

At 7:53 a.m. the police responded to the 900 block of Chetco Avenue after a caller reported criminal trespass.

At 11:11 a.m. the police responded to the 800 block of Chetco Avenue after a caller reported suspicious conditions. A report of a young juvenile left in a car was unfounded.

At 2:40 p.m. the police responded to the 300 block of 5th Street after a caller reported suspicious conditions. Subjects were issued a trespass warning.

At 4:34 p.m. the police responded to the 1400 block of Glenwood Drive after a caller reported an animal complaint.

At 4:56 p.m. the police responded to Highway 101 after a caller reported a traffic crash with no injury.

At 5:52 p.m. the police responded to the North Bank of Chetco River Road after a caller reported a dog in the roadway.

At 6:55 p.m. the police responded to Chetco River Road after a caller reported a hazard to oncoming traffic. A dead animal was found in the middle of the roadway.

At 7:26 p.m. the police conducted a warrant service at the 600 block of Old County Road. The subject was issued an exclusion from city parks for three months as well as cited and released on a warrant.

 At 7:54 p.m. the police responded to the 97700 block of South Taylor Creek Road after a caller reported threats.

At 10:08 p.m. the police responded to the 700 block of Chetco Avenue after a caller reported criminal trespass. The subject was issued a trespass from the property.

Friday 12/10:

At 2:30 a.m. the police responded to the 1100 block of Chetco Avenue after a caller reported criminal trespass.

At 12:19 p.m. the police responded to Harris Beach after a caller reported a dispute. A male subject was throwing items out of a vehicle and yelling at a female subject.

At 12:45 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the 300 block of 5th Street.

At 2:24 p.m. the police responded to the 500 block of 5th Street after a caller reported threats.

At 3:22 p.m. the police responded to the 400 block of Alder Street after a caller reported disorderly conduct.

At 8:38 p.m. the police responded to the 200 block of Marine Drive after a caller reported an animal complaint.

At 9:57 p.m. the police responded to Mill Beach after a caller reported disorderly conduct. There were reports of subjects playing loud music and drinking.

At 10:48 p.m. the police responded to Bridge Street after a caller reported illegal camping. Multiple subjects were warned for illegal camping in the area.

Saturday 12/11:

At 1:13 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco Avenue and Parkview.

At 7:53 a.m. the police responded to the 500 block of Fir Street after a caller reported an animal complaint.

At 10:33 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Oak Street and Chetco Avenue.

At 1:27 p.m. the police responded to Cape Ferrelo after a caller reported an animal complaint.

At 2:16 p.m. the police responded to the 1000 block of Chetco Avenue after a caller reported theft of services.

At 4:38 p.m. the police responded to Highway 101 after a caller reported a hazard for traffic.

At 5:40 p.m. the police responded to Winchuck River Road after a caller reported a tree was down.

At 5:59 p.m. the police responded to the 500 block of 5th Street after a caller reported disorderly conduct.

Medical staff requested assistance with an out of control patient making threats to harm staff.

At 6:25 p.m. firefighters responded to the 400 block of Alder Street after a caller reported a fire.

At 6:49 p.m. the police responded to Highway 101 South after a caller reported a traffic crash with injury.

At 10:49 p.m. the police conducted a welfare check at the 1700 block of Arch Lane.

Sunday 12/12:

At 12:54 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco Avenue and Bridge Street. The driver was cited for driving while suspended and driving uninsured. He also received a verbal warning for defective equipment - license plate light out.

At 4:55 a.m. firefighters responded to the 99300 block of South Bank Chetco River Road after a caller reported a fire.

At 9:12 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco Avenue and Parkview. The driver was cited for speeding - going 60 mph in a 35 mph area.

At 11:39 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco Avenue and Arnold. The driver was given a verbal warning for speeding.

At 12:01 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop next to Mill Beach. The driver was given a verbal warning for failing to maintain the lane of travel and failing to signal.

At 12:26 p.m. the police responded to the 500 block of Railroad Street after a caller reported criminal trespass.

At 3:03 p.m. the police conducted a welfare check on the south side under the Chetco bridge.

At 5;26 p.m. the police conducted a welfare check on Macklyn Cove Drive.

At 9:24 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco Avenue and Pacific. The driver was cited for not having an operator's license and a verbal warning for speeding.

Monday 12/13:

At 12:41 a.m. the police responded to the south bank of Chetco after a caller reported a traffic crash with no injury.

At 2:56 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco and Oak Street. The driver was given a verbal warning for failing to maintain the lane of travel and speeding.

At 8:03 a.m. fire personnel and Coos Curry Electric responded to a blown transformer at Fern and Easy Street after a power outage.at 8:26 a.m. the police responded to the 800 block of Chetco Avenue after a caller reported criminal trespass. A male sleeping on bank property refused to leave at employee’s request but was gone upon officer’s arrival.

At 10:00 a.m. the police responded to the 99100 block of Winchuck River Road after a caller reported harassment over the phone.

At 10:11 a.m. the police responded to the 400 block of FIr Street after a caller reported criminal trespass.

At 12:07 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Highway 101 and 5th Street. The driver was cited for careless driving and received a verbal warning for reckless driving, exhibition of speed and failing to signal.

At 12:38 p.m. the police responded to the 300 block of 5th Street after a caller reported menacing. A male was cited for menacing and disorderly conduct after repeatedly jumping in and out of traffic, creating disturbance.

At 5:45 p.m. the police responded to the 600 block of Easy Street after a caller reported criminal mischief. Damage was done to a residence.

At 6:22 p.m. the police responded to the 300 block of 5th Street after a caller reported theft. A male left Fred Meyer without paying for nearly $600 in merchandise.

At 11:07 p.m. the police responded to Mill Beach after a caller reported loud noises. Males having a loud party at Mill Beach were contacted by an officer and agreed to turn down the music and leave the area.
