The police blotter is a public record of incidents as reported by law enforcement agencies. All individuals arrested or charged with a crime are innocent until proven guilty. The information printed is preliminary and subject to change. The Brookings Police Department provides emergency dispatch services for the City of Brookings as well as Southern Curry County 9-1-1 calls, dispatching for state, county, and local law enforcement, five fire departments, and Cal-Ore ambulance. Excerpts from the BPD call logs:

Tuesday, Jan. 5

• At 5:07 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop at Chetco and Oak and the driver was warned for speeding.

• At 5:27 p.m., a woman was arrested after she fled from police during an attempted traffic stop. She was stopped on the Chetco Bridge and charged with eluding and DUII. After processing, she was released to a sober adult.

• At 7:47 a.m., police conducted a welfare check in the 1200 block of Moore Street.

• At 12:43 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop at Highway 101 and East Harris. The driver was warned for speeding.

• At 2:37 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on Highway 101 and North Bank. The driver was cited for failure to signal and warned for driving while suspended.

• At 3:34 p.m., police served a warrant on an adult male in the 1200 block of Easy Street and transported the man to the county jail.

• At 4:14 p.m., officers were called to the 500 block of Fern Street to a report of a theft of a bicycle.

• At 6:06 p.m., officers responded to the 17100 block of Old County Road after receiving a report of threats.

• At 8:23 p.m., officers responded to the 900 block of West Chetco to search for a man seen on video near the business. They were unable to locate the person.

• At 10:29 p.m., a prowler was reported in the 98600 block of Camellia Drive.

Wednesday, Jan. 6

• At 9:22 a.m., an adult male was arrested in the 400 block of Spruce Street on a felony warrant. The man was transported to jail after resisting arrest,

• At 11:31 a.m., officers conducted a welfare check in the 1100 block of Chetco Avenue.

• At 1:10 p.m., a traffic accident was reported in the 16200 block of Highway 101.

• At 1:33 p.m., an officer responded to Easy Street to follow up on an assault reported during a political rally.

• At 4:25 p.m., a traffic stop was conducted in the 900 block of Chetco Avenue, and the driver was warned for illegal use of a cell phone.

• At 6:16 p.m., a traffic stop was conducted at Dollar General, and the driver was warned for the tail lights being out.

• At 10:28 p.m., a traffic stop was conducted at Chetco and Pacific, and the driver was warned for a headlight being out.

Thursday, Jan. 7

• At 9:41 a.m., a parking violation was reported in the 1300 block of Chetco Avenue.

• At 11:50 a.m., a traffic stop was conducted at Chetco and Parkview.

• At 12:57 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop at Highway 101 and 5th Street.

• At 3:02 p.m., officers investigated a criminal trespass complaint in the 400 block of Azalea Park Road.

• At 3:20 p.m., police investigated an animal complaint on Highway 101 and Lower Harbor Road.

• At 4:10 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop at Spruce and Center.

• At 5:28 p.m., police responded to the 16400 block of Highway 101 to a traffic crash with injuries. Cal Ore Life Flight also responded to the accident.

• At 6:46 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop at Chetco and Bridge.

• At 9:23 p.m., a disabled vehicle was reported in the 400 block of Mill Beach Road.

Friday, Jan. 8

• At 10:29 a.m., officers cited a released a man on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant.

• At 11:02 a.m., police responded to the 900 block of Chetco Avenue to intercede in a verbal altercation.

• At 11:56 a.m., a traffic accident was reported in the 800 block of Chetco Avenue.

• At 12:10 p.m., officers responded to the 200 block of Cypress after receiving a call reporting a dispute between neighbors.

• At 1:50 p.m., police received a complaint regarding a verbal dispute in the 200 block of Matot Street. The parties were separated.

• At 3:45 p.m., a female transient was removed from a business in the 400 block of Alder Street.

• At 4:20 p.m., officers returned to the 200 block of Matot Street to a report of threats.

• At 5:14 p.m., a male transient was arrested, cited and released after being found with methamphetamine.

• At 10:21 p.m., officers responded to the 94200 block of East 1st Street after receiving a complaint regarding a forgery/fraud/bad check.

• At 10:45 p.m., a traffic stop was conducted at Chetco and Center.

• At 11:23 p.m., officers responded to the 400 block of Mendy after receiving a call regarding a verbal dispute between roommates. The parties agreed to separate and one person will be moving.

Saturday, Jan. 9

• At 4:59 a.m., a woman was cited for a misdemeanor warrant and released in the 1100 block of Chetco Avenue.

• At 9:14 a.m., a fire was reported in the 16900 block of Old County Road.

• At 11:51 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 7100 block of Vista Ridge Drive after a report of criminal trespass.

• At 1:52 p.m., a harassment report was received on Chetco Avenue.

• At 8:07 p.m., a disabled vehicle was reported at Chetco and North Bank.

• At 9:32 p.m., officers responded to the 200 block of Cedar Street after receiving a report of a fight in progress.

Sunday, Jan. 10

• At 1:11 a.m., an intoxicated subject was reported in the 96400 block of Coverdell Road.

• At 8:05 a.m., officers responded to the 900 block of Chetco Avenue to a report of a verbal dispute.

• At 10:51 a.m., police responded to the bus stop and found a transient man banging on the bus shed with a hammer. The man told officers he was cleaning the structure.

• At 12:18 p.m., officers responded to the 800 block of Chetco Avenue and removed a transient man from a business.

• At 3:12 p.m., police responded to the 500 block of Fir Street after receiving a report of stalking.

• At 8:25 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop at 5th and Chetco, and the driver was warned for having a headlight out.

• At 8:37 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop at Chetco and Easy, and the driver was warned for failing to signal.

• At 8:42 p.m., a traffic stop was conducted at 5th and Chetco, and the driver was warned for no taillights.

• At 10:22 p.m., a traffic stop was conducted at Chetco and Oak, and the driver was warned for speeding, failure to carry current registration and failure to carry proof of insurance.

Monday, Jan. 11

• At 12:11 a.m., police responded to the 1100 block of Chetco Avenue to a report of a burglary. A transient male was caught trying to break into a motel room through the bathroom window. He and a female companion were trespassed from the property.

• At 5:41 a.m., a traffic accident was reported in the 900 block of Marina Heights. Citizens driving in the area reported a car crashed into a tree. Officers were unable to locate anyone near the crash, and the car was towed from the scene.

• At 9:25 a.m., officers responded to Azalea Park to investigate a criminal mischief complaint.

• At 11:28 a.m., officers responded to the 600 block of Old County Road after a transient camp was located. One man was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant and cited while two others were arrested for criminal mischief and offensive littering.

• At 11:33 a.m., a traffic accident was reported in the 400 block of Spruce Street.

• At 3:01 p.m., police responded to the 300 block of Marine Drive after a caller reported some of his tools had been stolen.

• At 5:23 p.m., a minor traffic accident was reported near Highway 101 and Center. A minor driver was cited for DUII, reckless driving and minor in possession of alcohol and marijuana. The driver was released to a sober family member.

• At 6:17 p.m., police responded to the 1100 block of Chetco Avenue after a caller reported an intoxicated man harassing store employees.

• At 7:23 p.m., police responded to the 300 block of 5th Street after employees said a drunk man would not leave the store. The man was cited for a misdemeanor warrant.

• At 7:54 p.m., police responded to the 300 block of 5th Street and arrested an adult female who attempted to leave the store without paying for a full cart of merchandise.
