Brookings police blotter

The police blotter is a public record of incidents as reported by law-enforcement agencies. All individuals arrested or charged with a crime are innocent until proven guilty. The information printed is preliminary and subject to change.

Tuesday 9/21:

  • At 7:40 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of highway 101 and Easy Street. The driver was cited for failing to carry current proof of insurance and a verbal warning for speeding.
  • At 10:33 a.m. the police responded to the 900 block of Chetco avenue after a caller reported an animal complaint.
  • At 11:05 a.m. the police responded to Easy street after a caller reported a parking violation. A vehicle parked in a no-parking zone has been tagged for tow.
  • At 12:26 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Easy street and 5th street. The driver was given a verbal warning for failing to obey traffic control devices.
  • At 2:09 p.m. the police responded to the 400 block of Smith Drive after a caller reported criminal trespass. An adult female was arrested for Criminal trespass and released with a court citation.
  • At 3:36 p.m. the police conducted a welfare check at the 16200 block of highway 101.
  • At 5:08 p.m. the police responded to the 1000 block of Chetco avenue after a caller reported criminal trespass. Two males loitering behind a business were formally trespassed from the property and left as directed.
  • At 6:59 p.m. the police conducted a welfare check at the 700 block of Elk Drive.
  • At 9:20 p.m. the police responded to highway 101 MP 363 after a caller reported a traffic crash with injury. A single vehicle rollover crash, county investigating a DUII. The driver was transported to the hospital.
  • At 9:21 p.m. the police responded to highway 101 south bridge after a caller reported a traffic crash with injury. A single vehicle crashed over the guardrail at the south end of Chetco Bridge, Oregon State Police are investigating as a DUII. Driver complained of arm and leg pain but declined transport by ambulance.
  • At 9:28 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Oak street and highway 101. The driver was given a verbal warning for operating without drive privileges and defective equipment.

Wednesday 9/22:

  • At 6:28 a.m. the police responded to the 300 block of Maple street after a caller reported an animal complaint.
  • At 7:00 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of highway 101 and willow. The driver was given a warning for speeding.
  • At 9:26 a.m. the police conducted a welfare check at the 99300 block of South Bank Chetco River Road.
  • At 9:56 a.m. the police responded to the intersection of highway 101 and Sunshine Cove after a caller reported a traffic crash with no injury.
  • At 11:19 a.m. the police responded to the 300 block of 5th street after a caller reported a traffic crash with no injury.
  • At 11:57 a.m. the police responded to the intersection of highway 191 and Harris Beach after a caller reported a hit and run.
  • At 12:27 p.m. the police conducted a welfare check at the 900 block of Parkview drive.
  • At 1:22 p.m. the police responded to the school's area after a caller reported a traffic crash with no injury. The officer was unable to locate the reported fender bender.
  • At 2:03 p.m the police responded to the Emerald Coast Estates after a caller reported a traffic crash with no injury.
  • At 3:59 p.m. the police responded to highway 101 MP 353 after a caller reported a tree down.
  • At 7:51 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Ross and Chetco avenue. The driver was given a verbal warning for exhibition of speed.
  • At 8:08 p.m. the police conducted a warrant service to the 6500 block of Lucky lane. An adult male was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant out of Del Norte COunty. He was released with a court citation and reminded of his revoked driving status.
  • At 8:52 p.m. the police conducted a welfare check at the 300 block of 5th street.
  • At 10:16 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of chetco avenue and fern. The driver was given a warning for an illegal u turn.

Thursday 9/23:

  • At 2:25 a.m. the police responded to Gardner Ridge Road after a caller reported a violation of a restraining order.
  • At 6:38 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of highway 101 and House Rock.
  • At 8:46 a.m. the police responded to the 500 block of Pacific avenue after a caller reported harassment.
  • At 10:23 a.m. the police responded to the 800 block of Cameo street after a caller reported an animal complaint.
  • At 11:33 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of highway 101 and Deer Park.
  • At 1:29 p.m. the police responded to the 1100 block of Chetco Avenue after a caller reported suspicious conditions. Officers responded to a reporte of a male “going crazy” with an axe and machete. Male was transported by ambulance and weapons were taken into safekeeping by law enforcement.
  • At6:19 p.m. the police responded to the 400 block of Fern Avenue after a caller reported harassment.
  • At 7:29 p.m. the police responded to the 300 block of 5th street after the caller reported theft. A female subject was arrested, cited and released for theft in 1st degree.
  • At 10:17 p.m. the police responded to the railroad area after a caller reported an animal complaint.

Friday 9/24:

  • At 00:48 a.m. the police responded to Mill Beach after a caller reported illegal dumping.
  • At 8:41 a.m. firefighters responded to the 98100 block of Rivendell Lane after a caller reported a fire.
  • At 11:50 a.m. the police responded to a caller who was reporting harassment over the phone.
  • At 12:45 p.m. the police responded to the 500 block of Chetco avenue after a caller reported a traffic crash with no injury.
  • At 2:04 p.m. the police conducted a welfare check to the 16200 block of Lower Harbor Road.
  • At 3:37 p.m. the police responded to the 300 block of 5th street after a caller reported menacing. A male was arrested for menacing and transported to jail.
  • At 5:04 p.m. the police responded to Wharf street after a caller reported an animal complaint.
  • At 7:21 p.m. firefighters responded to Coverdell Road after a caller reported an illegal burn.
  • At 8:12 p.m. the police responded to the 900 block of Chetco Avenue after a caller reported a dispute.

Saturday 9/25: No reports

Sunday 9/26:

  • At 8:37 a.m. the police responded to Carpenterville Road after a caller reported a traffic crash with no injury.
  • At 11:28 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of chetco avenue and Bridge. A verbal warning for speeding was given to the driver.
  • At 11:43 a.m. the police conducted a welfare check at the 17300 block of Parkview drive.
  • At 3:02 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco avenue and 5th street. A verbal warning was given to the driver for speed racing.
  • At 3:24 p.m. the police responded to the 14400 block of highway 101 south after a caller reported loud noises.
  • At 3:41 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco avenue and parkview drive. The driver was given a verbal warning for speeding and failing to register the vehicle. The passenger was warned for failing to use the safety seatbelt.
  • At 10:29 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of 3rd street and easy street. The driver was given a verbal warning for exhibition of speed.

Monday 9/27:

  • At 8:24 a.m. the police responded to the 800 block of Chetco Avenue after a caller reported illegal camping. Two males camped in their vehicle on bank property were formally trespassed and moved along.
  • At 9:32 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Oak street and chetco avenue. The driver was given a verbal warning for speeding.
  • At 1:28 p.m. the police responded to the 500 block of Pacific Avenue after a caller reported harassment. Officer investigating harassment among students.
  • At 2:30 p.m. the police responded to the 16300 block of Sunshine cove after a caller reported threats.
  • At 2:45 p.m. the police responded to the 600 block of memory lane after a caller reported illegal camping. The owner of an illegally parked vehicle told the officer he was taking the car to a mechanic in the morning.
  • At 9:00 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of chetco avenue and bridge street. The driver was given a verbal warning for driving without lights when required.
  • At 10:13 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco Avenue and Mill Beach. The driver was cited for driving while suspended and was given a verbal warning for expired registration.
