Brookings police blotter

The police blotter is a public record of incidents as reported by law-enforcement agencies. All individuals arrested or charged with a crime are innocent until proven guilty. The information printed is preliminary and subject to change.

Wednesday 12/15:

• At 7:52 a.m., the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Pacific and Fern. The driver was given a verbal warning for failing to obey traffic control devices.

• At 8:42 a.m., the police conducted a welfare check at the 1200 block of Moore Street.

• At 11:40 a.m., the police responded to the 1300 block of Homestead Road after a caller reported theft. A male paid a moving company who didn't show up, as contracted.

• At 1:44 p.m., the police conducted a welfare check at the 500 block of Fern Avenue.

• At 3:14 p.m., the police responded to the 1200 block of Moore Street after a caller reported illegal camping. Occupants of a motor home camped in city limits were given an hour to move the vehicle.

• At 7:33 p.m., the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of 5th Street and Chetco Avenue. The driver was given a verbal warning for driving without lights when required.

• At 8:54 p.m., the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco Avenue and 5th Street. The driver was given a verbal warning for driving without lights when required.

• At 9:41 p.m., the police responded to the 300 block of Spruce drive after a caller reported loud noises.

Thursday 12/16:

• At 1:10 a.m., the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco Avenue and Oak Street. The driver was given a verbal warning for speeding.

• At 11:44 a.m., the police responded to the 500 block of Pacific after a caller reported a dispute.

• At 12:11 p.m., the police responded to the intersection of Willow and Chetco after a caller reported a traffic crash with no injury.

• At 7:12 p.m., the police responded to Mill Beach Road after a caller reported an animal complaint.

• At 7:51 p.m., the police responded to the 300 block of Alder Street after a caller reported suspicious conditions. Report of a male subject carrying a brand new chainsaw after previously being seen walking empty handed. Turned out he had just purchased the chainsaw from someone and was walking back home with it.

• At 9:38 p.m., the police responded to the 900 block of 3rd Street after a caller reported that someone had just been in their backyard attempting to steal something.

• At 9:56 p.m., a female brindle and a white pit bull were found near South Coast Lumber. They were brought to the police department.

• At 10:54 p.m., the police responded to the Harris Beach rest area after a caller reported a male subject flashing his knife at people who walked by him.

Friday 12/17:

• At 2:23 a.m., the police responded to the intersection of 5th Street and railroad Street after a caller reported disorderly conduct. A report of a male subject throwing items at a vehicle passing by.

• At 8:01 a.m., the police responded to the 1100 block of Chetco Avenue after a caller reported a hit and run.

• At 10:11 a.m., the police conducted a welfare check at the 400 block of Fir Street.

• At 1:39 p.m., the police responded to Alder Street after a caller reported a driving complaint.

• At 7:50 p.m., the police responded to the 1100 block of Chetco Avenue after a caller reported a dispute. An unwanted female subject forced her way into his room and was refusing to leave.

• At 7:58 p.m., the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco Avenue and Bridge Street.

• At 9:54 p.m., the police conducted a warrant service at the intersection of Fifield and Arnold Street.

• At 10:29 p.m., the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco Avenue and Parkview.

Saturday 12/18:

• At 00:46 a.m., the police responded to the 400 block of Fir Street after a caller reported criminal trespass. Several subjects were issued a trespass warning.

• At 5:18 a.m., the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco Avenue and Parkview.

• At 11:31 a.m., the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco Avenue and Oak.

• At 12:14 p.m., the police responded to Otter Terrace after a caller reported an animal complaint.

• At 2:12 p.m., the police responded to the 600 block of Chetco Avenue after a caller reported theft.

• At 5:15 p.m., the police responded to Passley after a caller reported a driving complaint. There was a report of ongoing issues with a neighbor revving their truck every time they leave their house.

• At 6:59 p.m., the police responded to the 800 block of Railroad Street after a caller reported an animal complaint.

Sunday 12/19:

• At 12:05 a.m., the police conducted a welfare check at the Harbor Port.

• At 9:41 a.m., the police responded to the 16000 block of Boat Basin after a caller reported a fight.

• At 10:52 a.m., the police responded to the 800 block of Chetco Avenue after a caller reported an animal complaint.

• At 12:17 p.m., the police conducted a traffic stop next to Napa Auto. The driver was cited for going 58 mph in a 35 mph area, and also received a verbal warning for careless driving.

• At 12:26 p.m., the police conducted a welfare check on Chetco Avenue.

• At 3:50 p.m., the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of 5th Street and Ransom. The driver was given a verbal warning for failing to obey traffic control devices.

• At 5:20 p.m., the police responded to the 300 block of 5th Street after a caller reported theft. A male was arrested for theft 2 after stealing a large amount of merchandise. He was released with a court citation due to continued jail lodging restrictions.

• At 6:13 p.m., the police responded to the 1300 block of Easy Street after a caller reported theft.

• At 6:45 p.m., the police responded to the 16400 block of Lower harbor Road after a caller reported a fight.

• At 7:25 p.m., the police conducted a welfare check at the 98800 block of Pleasant Hill Drive.

• At 9:48 p.m., the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Railroad and Pacific. The driver was given a verbal warning for driving without lights when required, expired OR license and failing to register vehicle.

• At 10:25 p.m., the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco Avenue and 5th Street. The driver was given a verbal warning for reckless driving.

Monday 12/20:

• At 2:15 a.m., the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco Avenue and Fern. The driver received a verbal warning for speeding.

• At 10:57 a.m., the police responded to Highway 101 after a caller reported a traffic crash with injury.

• At 11:58 a.m., the police responded to Borax property after a caller reported a criminal trespass. Adults parked and camping were formally trespassed from location and advised to move along.

• At 12:14 p.m., the police conducted a traffic stop at the Harris Beach Rest area. The driver was given a verbal warning for failing to maintain the lane of travel in a work zone.

• At 1:07 p.m., the police conducted a welfare check at the 500 block of Willow Street.

• At 3:06 p.m., the police conducted a warrant service at the 300 block of 5th Street. An adult male was arrested on a valid Coos County warrant and was released with a court citation.

• At 3:54 p.m., the police responded to the 800 block of Chetco Avenue after a caller reported suspicious conditions. A customer reported threats from another customer.

• At 9:58 the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco Avenue and Bridge Street. The driver was given a verbal warning for driving without lights when required.
