BHS soccer

On November 3, the Brookings-Harbor High School boy’s soccer team kicked off to compete for the first round of the state tournament.

The Bruins scored first against their competitor, Santiam Christian out of Corvallis.

The two teams were competing in the first round of state, both trying to win and continue on to the quarterfinals. Right out of the gate, Brookings held the ball on Santiam’s side of the field, falling back every once in a while to regain possession.

Santiam Christian then scored on a penalty kick. Brookings recovered quickly after with another point. At the beginning of the second half, the score was 2-1. BHHS solidified their lead after they scored off of a break away. Then, BHHS got overly confident, and the defenders fell too far up the field. The players got overrun by one of the forward Santiam guys who scored, resting the final score at 3-2.

Brookings took the win for this game, and they played hard.
