Drum and Percussion Circles

Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness presents Drumming and Percussion Workshops with teaching artist Mombo Hernandez. Workshops will be held July 24 and August 28, at 2 p.m., location to be announced. All workshops are free-of-charge to veterans, active military and their family members. Guitar Lessons for Veterans and their Families

Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness presents Guitar Workshops with teaching artist Dale Morgan. Classes take place Tuesdays from June 29 - August 17. Beginning class is held from 4 - 5 p.m., and Intermediate/advanced class is held from 6 - 7:30 p.m. All workshops are free-of-charge to veterans, active military and their family members. Oil Painting for Veterans and their Families

Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness presents Oil Painting Workshops with teaching artist Jonathan Gaetke. Classes take place Mondays from June 28 - August 9, from 6 - 8 p.m. All workshops are free-of-charge to veterans, active military and their family members. Family members can participate whether or not the veteran does. Completing one of the workshops makes artists eligible to display their work in the Art by Veterans exhibit in August at the Del Norte County Courthouse. Pre-registration is required. Brian Scott Gallery

Brian Scott Gallery, located at 515 Chetco Ave. in Brookings, features two artists in July: Sydney Clinton with photographs of flowers and landscapes, and weaver Jane Opiat who hand-weaves ponchos, purses and scarves. The gallery also features 30 other artists throughout their ocean-view patio and three floors of art. The gallery’s summer hours are Tuesday - Thursday, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m., and Friday - Saturday, 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. For information, call 541-412-8687.

“Colorful Critters”

Fun Summer activities are easy with the book “Colorful Critters.” Perfect for your summer visitors, the book is made for meditative coloring for adults, and fun for children, with hand drawn illustrations by local artist Rosemary Garcia. Highlighting the “wild side” of our area with local animals, the book includes captions in English, Tolowa, and Yurok, and at the end of the book interesting facts about the featured animals are included. A limited supply of “Colorful Critters” is available at Del Norte Office Supply in Crescent City, Requa Inn at 451 Requa Road, Klamath, and at Wright’s Custom Framing in Brookings. Fog and Fine Art Gallery

Located in Wright’s Custom Framing and Art Supply, 810 Chetco Ave. Brookings, the gallery features 36 local artists in a variety of mediums and a classroom to inspire new and seasoned artists with workshops. Featured artists are students of SWOCC and the Gallery Featured Artist is Michael Dwailabee. Stop by and enjoy all that’s new in the gallery, open from 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. Monday - Friday, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Saturday. Manley Art Center and Gallery

Manley Art Center and Gallery is located at 433 Oak St. in Brookings. Ceramicist and mixed media artist Linda Ross and painter Horst Wolf are featured artists for July at the Manley Art Center. Ross has focused her inspiration on her subject matter’s customs, faces and dress. Wolf has dabbled in surrealism, abstracts and non-representational painting, while at present he is focusing on cartoons with “poetry.” Their complementary show runs from July 4 - July 31.
