The Central School Board began its meeting Wednesday by recognizing outgoing board member Brandon McGinnis for his four years of service to the students and staff of the district.
McGinnis served on the board from July 2015 through June 2019.
The board received reports from the business office and principals. Riley Creek Principal Tom Denning reported this was the first summer in recent memory that all new staff has been hired by this time.
Superintendent Tim Wilson provided results from a recent staff survey on school culture and invited the board to participate in the Party in the Park activity on July 13.
He also said grants were received from the Gold Beach Community Fund and West Foundation for the high school’s new digital arts program and said current enrollment in the district was 460 students –– 311 at Riley Creek and 149 at Gold Beach High School.
On June 28, at noon in the Gold Beach High School Library, a budget hearing will be held to approve 2019-20 budget as amended. Public comment will be allowed.
The next regular meeting will be July 17, 6 p.m. in the Gold Beach High School Library.
