Members of an all-volunteer task force — Brookings Harbor Events & Arts Center Task Force — are encouraging residents to participate in a community wide survey concerning a possible events center.

To participate in the survey, just go online to:

The task force has been studying the feasibility of building a community center that would have an 300-400 seat auditorium plus meeting space, similar to events and arts centers built in Florence and Newport, according to a press release from the group.

The task force includes people from local service organizations, arts groups and clubs, and education and civic leaders, the release said. It has received financial backing from The Ford Family Foundation and the Brookings Harbor Friends of Music to complete a needs assessment.

The release said the task force has engaged an independent research firm, DCG Research, to conduct a survey to ensure it accurately reflects the community’s opinions on the proposed project. The online survey is being distributed using local websites and social media sources.

If you do not have internet access, you can take the survey by contacting Mark Dennett at 541-488-4925, DCG Research, to receive a printed version or to take the survey by phone, the release said.

The release said the task force hopes to complete the survey in June and results will be made public.
