Brookings Police are looking for the public’s help in finding a vehicle that struck a man and fled the scene Monday morning.
Witnesses said the man was crossing Chetco Avenue near Blue Coast Inn when he was hit by a burnt orange Toyota Tundra pickup traveling northbound.
Witnesses described the pickup as being a 2014 to 2017 model with an extended cab and a matching camper shell over the bed of the truck. There might be a dark rack on top of the shell and that extends over the cab of the truck. There likely is damage to the driver’s side of the truck where the man was hit, as well, officials said.
The victim was transported by Cal-Ore ambulance to the Brookings Airport and flown to a hospital out of the area.
Police officials did not have the name of the man, the extent of his injuries nor which hospital he was taken to.
It is the second wreck involving a pedestrian on Chetco Avenue in a week, and the fifth in the area since the summer tourism season began. The first involved a man who lost control of his bicycle on Hillside Avenue and hit an RV driving northbound on Chetco Avenue June 1.
