District Attorney Everett Dial said Rodriguez was arraigned Feb. 6.

Dial was unable to say how long Rodriguez had allegedly been stealing mail or what she might have stolen because the investigation is ongoing.

A victim in the case, Curry County Sheriff John Ward, said Rodriguez had possession of a sympathy card mailed to him and it had been opened.

He said, “those cards sometimes look like they hold cash, and anything that looks like cash invites stealing.”

Ward said Rodriguez cleaned at the post office and had access to mail as well as post office boxes.

He said packages might have been taken as well because customers had received notices packages had arrived, but there were no packages to retrieve when they came to the post office.

Wood said people should contact the Gold Beach Police Department if they think they have had mail stolen.

Gold Beach Officer Cheyanne Alexander is investigating the case.
