Law enforcement in Nevada have arrested Lucas DeYoung, sought by the FBI in connection with a Dec. 28 shooting in Harbor.

Dispatch started notifying law enforcement in those areas in an attempt to locate him.

DeYoung is a suspect in the alleged attempted murder of William Terebesi. Robert Kris Stanley of Brookings, who allegedly shot Terebesi three times, was arrested in Shelton, Washington, in January and charged with two counts of attempted murder and one of first-degree assault.

At about 9:30 p.m. Thursday, the Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP) saw a vehicle with Virginia plates parked on the shoulder of I-80 near Winnemucca with a man sleeping in the driver’s seat.

NHP troopers said the man fit the description provided by the FBI warrants as DeYoung. The driver initially gave a different name but it was determined that he was DeYoung. He was taken into custody without incident.

Troopers also found several guns, ammunition and body armor after searching his car.

DeYoung was transported to the Humboldt County, Nevada, jail and lodged on a local charge of felon in possession of firearms. He is wanted in Curry County and FBI warrants for attempted aggravated murder, attempted murder, unlawful flight to avoid prosecution and unlawful manufacture of marijuana.

The Curry County Sheriff’s Office has been working aggressively with the FBI, Brookings Police Department and other local law enforcement agencies to locate and arrest DeYoung for his alleged involvement in the shooting, Ward said.

The FBI last week offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to DeYoung’s arrest.

Curry County District Attorney Everett Dial is working with Nevada officials to extradite DeYoung to Oregon.
