Curry Pilot

T h is year’s Azalea Court is made up of five Brookings Harbor High School (BHHS) students.

The Azalea Queen will be crowned after a pageant held 7 p.m. Saturday (May 11) at the Elks Lodge. Tickets to the pageant are available at the door only and cost $10.

The court:

Allyson Cantrall

Will study at Montana State University and hopes to eventually become a veterinarian. Allyson was a part of the World War II exhibit team that showcased its project at the Oregon Historical Society.

Allyson was named both BHHS Science Student of the Month and Elks Lodge Student of the Month. She is also a Tiny Exhibition cheer coach.

Allyson is the daughter of Jennifer and Eric Burr.

Anna Serna

Plans to work in early childhood education. Anna was named MVP of the Special District 4 Soccer League and received an academic award for teaching preschool classes.

Anna is a member of the Link Crew, Youth Advisory Committee and the Coalition of Underage Drinking in Curry County as well as a basketball coach.

Anna is the daughter of Heather and Tom Serna.

Brooke Hodges

Plans to study nursing at Lane Community College. Brooke was a part of the World War II exhibit team that showcased its project at the Oregon Historical Society. She was also a camp counselor at the 4H of Lobster Creek Camp and a Little Bruins volleyball coach.

Brooke won second place in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Patriot’s Pen Essay Contest and was named to the BHHS honor roll.

Brooke is the daughter of Brent and Heather Hodges.

Destiney Lopez

Plans to study nursing at Rogue Community College and eventually hopes to be an oncology pediatrician.

Destiney is a member of the Relay for Life Committee, Link Crew and BHHS honor roll. She is also a volleyball referee. Destiney is the daughter of Matthew and Ryan Morris.

McKenna Davis-Overley

Hopes to one day be an ultrasound technologist.

McKenna was named Digital Design Student of the Month, Soroptimist Girl of the Month, Student Body Communications Officer (2017-2018), and Student Body Vice-President (2018-2019). She is also a member of the BHHS robotics team and has earned two varsity letters in volunteer work.

McKenna is the daughter of Jody Davis and Tom Overley.
