The Brookings-Harbor High School (BHHS) Knowledge Bowl team faced off against volunteers who agreed to oppose the undefeated Bruins at the Chetco Community Public Library Monday night.

The BHHS team qualified for the Small Schools National Knowledge Bowl Tournament in Chicago this May by beating five straight opponents in the Oregon National-Qualifying Knowledge Bowl competition in Brookings in April.

Live rounds of competition between the students, followed by competition against two adult teams, highlighted the Monday night event, according to KCIW host Teresa Lawson. KCIW taped the event for future broadcast.

Coach Lei’La’ Bryant said she was proud of their perseverance as they won one and lost one against the adults.

The team is raising money to pay for its trip to Chicago in May where it will compete at the national level; they are seeking donations to offset travel costs.

Coach Lisa Piscitello said the team still needs $2,000 to achieve its goal of including museum tickets, tee-shirts and meals for students.

For information or to donate to the team, call the BHHS office at 541-469-2108.
