Lorrie Lynn Erb, 49, of Brookings, died March 15 after being struck by a vehicle on U.S. 101 near the Winchuck River Bridge, according to reports issued by the Oregon State Police (OSP).

OSP officer Robin Katter reported the fatal crash at 3:25 a.m., noting Erb was struck by a grey Toyota in the southbound lane of the highway near milepost 362.

According to the report, the driver of the vehicle gave a voluntary urine and blood sample at the hospital and a crash reconstructionist responded to the scene to take measurements to create a scale diagram.

It was later determined the driver was not impaired at the time of the crash and had cooperated with the investigation, OSP Capt. Timothy Fox said.

“He provided a statement and consented to a blood draw at the hospital after the crash, Fox said. “A truck driver reported seeing her (Erb) walking in and out of the road prior to the crash and the driver has not been arrested or cited.”

No explanation for Erb being along the highway at the time has been developed, according to Fox. Reach Boyd C. Allen at ballen@currypilot.com
