The public is invited to walk on their peg legs, wear their eye patch and perhaps carry a bird on their shoulder for the eighth annual Pirates of the Pacific Festival.

The event, which opened Friday, is from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. today (Aug. 11) and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, at the Port of Brookings Harbor boardwalk.

The Insider of Southern Oregon presents this years festivities complete with pirate re-enactors, cannon fire, beer gardens, two stages providing entertainment, vendors, food, children’s activities and mermaids.

Admission is free.
