Brookings-Harbor High School seniors walked the halls of Kalmiopsis Elementary School Friday and were congratulated by younger students, who lined the halls waving flags and cheering on the graduates.

High school Principal Lisa Dion called the traditional event, “Just really fun.”

Vice Principal Alex Merritt, attending his last graduation practice before moving to Washington, said, “Brookings is an awesome place where I have met and worked with great people.”

Merritt complimented graduates on working hard to get and said their graduation was also the culmination of 13 years of people working together for them.

“Pomp and Circumstance” played in the halls as the seniors laughed, walked the halls and gave the younger students high-fives to celebrate the end of high school.

When they left Kalmiopsis, they snaked their way through the fields to the stadium where they lined up and climbed the risers, rehearsing for Saturday’s ceremony.

BHHS celebrates graduation 2 to 4 p.m. today at Elmer Bankus Field, the BHHS football and track and field stadium.
