After going 1-2 in the Hidden Valley Tournament last week, the Bruins baseball team returns later today to host their rescheduled game against the Gold Beach Panthers at 4:30 p.m.
On Friday, the Bruins travel to North Valley to play the Knights in a double-header starting at 2:30 p.m. At 4-3 overall, the Bruins are currently rank No. 24 in the OSAA 4A rankings.
After canceling their March 23 double-header against the Phoenix Pirates, the Bruins softball team took a week and a half off before returning to host their rescheduled game against the Gold Beach Panthers today at 4:30 p.m. The Bruins will then travel to North Valley on Friday for a double-header against the Knights, starting at 2:30 p.m. The Bruins are 0-2 so far this season at rank No. 33 in the OSAA 4A rankings.
The Bruins played an impromptu four versus four nine-hole game against Del Norte on Friday, as well as an unscheduled tournament at Stone Ridge Golf Course in Central Point on Monday.
Friday’s match saw Bruins No. 1 seed Bret Darger matched up against Del Norte’s No.1, Cameron Schultz, with Del Norte taking a 3-2 lead victory. Cameron Kime for the Bruins went against Taylor Westbrook for Del Norte in the second spot, with Kime taking a win for the Bruins on the last hole.
Zack Walker played for the Bruins in the third spot against Del Norte’s Ben Slayton, but lost to Slayton at a 4-3 lead. The fourth spot match had Robbie Rowe for the Bruins taking on Brennan Thornton, which ended 4-3 lead in Del Norte’s favor.
Monday’s tournament was small with only four boys teams and six girls teams, the Bruins coming in third overall as a team. Bret Darger took the third low gross while Zack Walker tied for fourth.
According to Bruins coach Gary Early, being able to play a more casual match against a team like Del Norte was a good overall experience for the team while Monday’s tournament was good practice for their upcoming tournament at Eagle Point.
The Bruins head to Eagle Point Golf Course on Thursday to tee off at noon.
Bruins track and field

This Saturday, the Bruins host the Brookings Harbor Rotary Invitational with the first event starting at 10 a.m.
The Panthers faced against the Glide Wildcats on Friday, where they took a heavy 14-1 loss before kicking off their league season against the Bandon Tigers on Tuesday. The Panthers face Bandon at 1-4 overall for the season at rank No. 35 in the OSAA 2A/1A rankings.
The Panthers head to Brookings later today to play their rescheduled game against the Bruins starting at 4:30 p.m.
After taking a heavy 20-7 loss against Glide last Friday, the Panthers headed to Rogue River to play their rescheduled double-header against the Chieftains.
The Panthers lost the first game at a narrow 11-10 and then took a win in the second game at a wide 17-6. At 1-4 overall, the Panthers stand at rank No. 21 in the OSAA 2A/1A rankings.
The Panthers kicked off their league season against the Bandon Tigers on Tuesday and head to Brookings later today to play against the Bruins at 4:30 p.m.
