The Minetti String Quartet from Austria will perform Sunday Feb. 25, as part of the Brookings Harbor Friends of Music’s 33rd season.
This concert, originally scheduled for March 18, was changed to accommodate the group’s travel schedule.
Founded in 2003, the Minetti Quartet has won prizes at numerous competitions including first prize at the international Rimbotti String Quartet competition in Florence, the Haydn Prize at the International Haydn Competition in Vienna, the top award at the International Schubert Competition in Graz, and the Grosses Gradus ad Parnassum Prize.
The quartet’s name is a reference to a play by the dramatist Thomas Bernhard, who lived for many years in Ohlsdorf, the birthplace of the two violinists.
The quartet members are Maria Ehmer, violin; Anna Knopp, violin; Milan Milojicic, viola; and Leonhard Roczek, cello.
The concert program includes Joseph Haydn: String Quartet E flat major, op 33 no 2 “The Joke” Hob III:38; Dmitri Shostakovich: String quartet No. 7 opus 108; and Franz Schubert: String Quartet No.15 G-Major D887.
The concert is at 3 p.m. at the Brookings Seventh-day Adventist Church at 102 Park Ave. Tickets are $20. Season tickets are also available. Students younger than 18 are admitted free. Tickets may be purchased at the door or at Wright’s Custom Framing and Art Supplies.
