Brookings Harbor Community Theater announces the opening Debbie Metzler’s “A Walk in the Woods,” a youth production directed by Tiffany and Teryn VanMaren.

The show opens at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, at at Brookings Harbor Community Theater’s new location at 15542 U.S. 101 in Harbor. Shows continue Jan. 26, Feb. 1 and 2 at 7 p.m. with matinees on Jan. 27 and Feb. 3 at 2.

The tales of Goldilocks, the Three Bears, Red Riding Hood, the Three Pigs, and Hansel and Gretel, are all blended into one play while staying true to the original stories. Goldilocks, forest-savvy from having to survive in the woods without a family, is on the run from the Three Bears but takes time to help Red Riding Hood, who is leery of her stepmother’s motivation in sending her out into the woods at dusk with a basket full of food and a bright red cloak. Along the way, they are saved by the Woodsman (who also happens to be Hansel and Gretel’s father) from the zany Wolf (the same canine who plagues the Three Pigs).

“This show features a lot of brand new actors with tons of potential, and some amazing seasoned young actors,” Tiffany Van Maren said. “Combined with a comical script and lovely costumes, they all make for a hilarious, sweet, and highly enjoyable show.”

Tickets prices are $10 for adults and seniors and $6 for children 13 and younger. Tickets are on sale at Wright’s Custom Framing in Brookings, New Wave Video in Harbor and at the door.
