Exhibits for this year’s annual Curry County Fair are due between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. July 23, fair officials announced Monday.

Entry forms and tags are available in the fair office on Ellensburg Avenue in Gold Beach, Wright’s Custom Framing and Art Supplies in Brookings and the library in Port Orford. Group members entering exhibits in Brookings may drop off the entries at Wright’s no later than 1 p.m. Individuals who can’t bring their exhibits can drop off their securely packaged entries with registration forms and tags completed and attached at the fair office.

There is no longer a drop-off location for entrants from Port Orford who can’t get their exhibits to Gold Beach.

On Entry Day, the staff of each department will be available to assist exhibitors in:

•Docia Sweet Hall for all entries in Creative Art, Photography, Hobbycraft, Fiber Arts and Culinary,

•Curry Showcase, aka “Artisan Hall” for art sales,

•Floral Building: Land Products at the east end and Floral entries through

the Floral lobby entry,

•Livestock Pavilion for all livestock and dairy goats.

A Grand Champion Exhibitor award of $100 and a myrtlewood plaque is available to a contestant from Curry County who places in at least three departments. Sponsored awards are also available in each department.

Entry how-to

Each entrant also needs an exhibitor number. The number is a one-time feature that is retained from year-to-year. First-time entries will be assigned their permanent number when they complete their entry forms and tags. The same number is used for every category.

At registration, pick up an entry tag for each item. Fill it in with the same information as is on the registration form. Fill in the claim check at the bottom of the tag. When placing the exhibit, tear off and keep the claim check; it will be needed to reclaim exhibits Sunday, July 29.

Canned goods require a special entry tag. An adhesive label is placed on the side of the jar, near the bottom. Proper placement allows for maximum viewing and contributes to the uniformity and appearance of the exhibits.

Photography requires special corner tags designed to be folded into an envelope, which is slipped onto the upper right-hand corner of the exhibit and secured at the back.

All open entries are to be picked up Sunday, July 29, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., including static livestock exhibits, with the claim check from the entry tag. Any awards or notice of awards on your entry may not be removed until pick-up time.

All entries, except 4-H, are open to all counties and states. Any winning item from a previous year is ineligible, except livestock.

Only one item can be entered per category.
