Children will be treated to a special story telling event hosted by Guiamar Hiegert and KCIW radio, which will record the happening.

The event is at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14, at the Chetco Community Library at 405 Alder St. in Brookings.

Hiegert has written many publications in her career working with nonprofit organizations, but her passion has been writing short stories and journals.

Hiegert has a KCIW radio show, “Guima’s Tales for Children,” featuring unusual tales, original stories and legends from around the world.

Her soon-to-be published book, “Tales for the Sea Lion King,” is her first foray into the world of children’s stories and was inspired by true events.

Hiegert will tell stories from that book. Children can color pictures and play a game of Puffer Ball using big yellow balloons that will tie into the story illustrations for “Dilly the Puffer Fish.”

Valentine’s Day cookies will be served.

Children will be interviewed by KCIW staff. The children will also sing “KCIW,” which will be used for station identification.
