It wasn’t a smoking hot summer season for Stagelights because of the Chetco Bar Fire, so the musical organization is making an effort to recoup its losses.

Kindling the efforts is an impromptu concert by Castletown, a Celtic band from Portland that played during the smoked-out Wild Rivers Music Festival.

The concert is from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, at the Event Center at 800 Chetco Ave. in Brookings. Admission is a $5 suggested donation. Refreshments are available for sale. Proceeds go toward the 2018 festival.

Castletown is a trio featuring guitar, fiddle, drums and vocals that coined the term “AmeriCeltic,” a style that melds classical, Celtic and rock and roll into a sound that is called fresh, exciting and danceable.

Stagelights is also planning a musical rummage sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, at the Chetco Grange Community Center at 97895 Shopping Center Ave. in Harbor.

The group is asking the community to donate new or used instruments, music supplies, sheet music or music books to sell. Proceeds benefit Stagelights’ winter workshops.

The event includes live music, food, drawings and Wild Rivers Music Festival T-shirts from all three years available at a discount.
