Frisson Ensemble will breathe new life into popular classical masterpieces Monday at Crescent Elk Auditorium.
Part of the Del Norte-Curry Community Concert Association’s Music in the Redwoods series, Frisson Ensemble is led by director and oboist Thomas Gallant and features graduates of top music schools including Juilliard, Curtis and Yale, according to a press release from Live On Stage.
With performances at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center under their belts, the six-member ensemble features music with different combinations of string and wind instruments. Programs feature classical works by Beethoven and Mozart, a traditional Celtic music suite and Ennio Morricone’s piece “Gabriel’s Oboe” from the film “The Mission.”
The Del Norte-Curry Community Concert Association has been bringing internationally acclaimed artists to Crescent City and Brookings since 1949. The association also sponsors free master classes and outreach performances to students.
Frisson Ensemble will interact with students at Crescent Elk Middle School at 10 a.m. Monday.
