Crescent Harbor

Coast Redwoods Art Association’s Crescent Harbor Gallery at 140 Marine Way in Crescent City displays work by its December Artist of the Month, students from the College of the Redwoods Art Program led by instructor Greg Christensen.

The gallery will host a Holiday Open House from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, featuring member artists, hors d’oeuvres and desserts.

California Redwoods Art Association’s 2nd St. Gallery at 1228 Second St. in Crescent City exhibits a collection of photography from December’s Artist of the Month Catherine Balck.

The gallery also displays members’ collections throughout the community including the Del Norte County Library, Sutter Coast Hospital and its Infusion Center and Wild Rivers Community Foundation.

The gallery hosts the next Second Sunday Hootenanny sing along from 2 to 4 p.m. Dec. 9. The public is invited to a Holiday Open House from 2 to 6 p.m. that same day, which includes refreshments and a raffle.

Brian Scott

Brian Scott Gallery at 515 Chetco Ave. in Brookings features the newest artist in the gallery, Brian Childers, with his wood-turned bowls.

The month of December will host its Winter Wonderland show with all of the gallery’s artists contributing new work with a winter theme.

Refreshments and live music by Patty Anne Da’Cunha and Shirley Hyatt accompanies the Second Saturday Art Walk from 3 to 6 p.m. Dec. 8.

Manley Art Center

The Manley Art Center and Gallery at 433 Oak St. in Brookings displays “The Collectors’ Show” through today, (Dec. 1) showcasing various art displayed by local collectors to encourage the collection of art — fine, primitive, and everything in-between.

A show by the Life Drawing Group will be on display from Dec. 4 through 29 with an array of talents capturing the essence of their subjects.

Arts and Culture

The Gallery of Arts and Culture at 175 H St. in Crescent City features the show “Art Safari,” benefiting the Smith River Alliance as well as the artists.

The show includes watercolor and acrylic works created by artists who spent the past two months painting along the Smith River.

Join the Gallery from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, to enjoy the exhibit, hear about the importance of the Smith River and the Alliance from the Directors Grant Werschkull and Patti McCleary, enjoy harp music by Jerry Bauer, and share refreshments.

Also featured are new watercolor paintings from John Hewett, created on his painting tour of Greece. A collection of original Christmas ornaments by Nancy Ehorn and Ann Holm are also available.

Art in Public Places

The Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness’ (DNACA) Art in Public Places exhibit is its 27th annual Juried Multimedia Show.

DNACA’s Art in Public Places exhibits are available for viewing in the Del Norte County Courthouse at 450 H St. in Crescent City. The courthouse is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.

There will soon be an Art in Public Places exhibit in the new terminal of the Crescent City Airport at 150 Dale Rupert Road.
