The rock band Igor and the Red Elvises will perform songs such as “She Works for the KGB,” “Bacon!” and “Beer, Babes and BBQ” during the final free concert in Azalea Park at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2.
The band (which has nothing to do with Elvis Presley) has toured the world for decades wearing wild outfits and performing its blend of surf rock, reggae, rockabilly, ska, funk polka and traditional Russian tunes — what it calls “Russian rokenrol”
The main vocalist and guitarist Igor Yuzov leads a humorous band that plays covers and originals.
The band has produced 12 studio albums, two live albums, a live concert DVD, and a greatest hits compilation. Some of their most notable film contributions include music and performances in “Six String Samurai,” “Mail Order Bride,” “Armageddon,” “Skippy,” “Melrose Place,” and “Penn and Teller’s Sin City Extravaganza.”
Music fans are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy the concert. The snack shack, operated by the Rotary Club of Brookings-Harbor, will offer hot dogs, hamburgers, nachos and beverages.
In case of bad weather, the concert will move indoors to the nearby Kalmiopsis Elementary School at 650 Easy St.
The summer concert series was presented by Rogue Credit Union and community sponsors include Brookings Signs and Graphics, Les Schwab Tire Center, Two if by Sea, Dave Miesner, Blue Pacific Realty, Brookings Inn, Curry County Cultural Coalition, the city of Brookings, Wild Rivers Motor Lodge and the Curry Coastal Pilot.
