Children’s activities will highlight special events during today’s May 12 Downtown Brookings Second Saturday Art Walk.
These events include a scene from a play and fourth-graders showing their art. Of course, there will be many adults showing their creations as well. The Art Walk is happening from 3 to 6 p.m.
The special activities start at 3:15 p.m. at Chetco Community Public Library with a preview performance of “Junie B is Not a Crook” performed by members the Brookings Harbor Community Theater.
Then, at 4 p.m. at Manley Art Center, members of the featured ceramic-making group Mudslingers show and talk about their work by serving tea from teapots they’ve made.
Two artists — fiber artist Jane Opiat and photographer Sydney Clinton — are featured at Brian Scott Gallery and, at 4:30 p.m. they’ll discuss their work.
During the entire Art Walk, students from Ria Shannon’s fourth grade class will show their work at Semi Aquatic Gallery. And at Wright’s Custom Framing and Art Supplies, featured artist Sara Broderick will present “Remember,” an 11-year retrospective of her previous shows.
For anyone who misses any of the activities, there’s an after-art-walk report with photos at www.wildriverscoastart.com class="Apple-converted-space">
