In a low-scoring thriller of a game Tuesday, the traveling Lady Bruins varsity basketball team defeated the Marshfield Pirates 33-31.

The hometeam Pirates dominated from the beginning, ending the first quarter with a 16-9 lead. However, the Bruins took advantage of their opponent's inability to capitalize on free throws in the second quarter, scoring 9 points to Marshfield's 6, reducing the Pirate's lead to 4 by halftime.

The third quarter was pivotal for the Bruins, who kept up the pressure to outscore the Pirates 9-0.

The game became a nail-biter in the fourth quarter as the Pirates fought back, outscoring the Bruins 9-6, but it wasn't enough to catch up.

However, the Pirates took a quick 5-point lead with 2 minutes left, and the Bruins were unable to recover, despite a 3-point shot at the one-minute mark.

The Pirates scored a total of 12 points, winning the overtime battle 52-45.

The Pirates pummeled the Bruins 18-6 in the first quarter, and didn't let up in the second quarter, taking a 28-16 lead at the half. The third quarter was much of the same, with the Pirates leading 38-27.

The fourth quarter saw a rejuvenated Bruins squad that scored 13 points to the Pirates' two points, tying the game 40-40 at the buzzer.
