The Curry Coastal Pilot

Pick different day for your market

We have been quiet and patient as all this unfolds, as we are not a confrontational couple.

But to Mr. Ellis, with all due respect, how can a man who never graces the Saturday market with his presence and brings nothing that he has hand-crafted or grown, call our market stagnate? Starting with only a few booths, Vie and Len Burton have been there every Saturday market for seven years and have continually grown their market. Such popularity and continued success simply doesn't exist without the public approval.

We wish to continue what Vi and Lenny have already sown into the fabric of Brookings Harbor. So, I challenge Mr. Ellis to pick all the other days he wants, start your own festival and see if you can back up your boasts.

Don't be a claim jumper.

'It's a Romney-Ryan wipeout!'

Have you noticed how political comments are slowly dissipating from the letters section of the Pilot as the election gets closer?

The Obama supporters have all but stopped trying to figure out something good to say about their man. When a Republican is in charge of the White House letters free flow from liberals on any information the press has supplied them whether it's true or not. Those letters are read by happy, confident conservatives which, in turn, gets their emotions riled up and a response kicks in.

In my opinion this election will be a wipeout against Democrats; not so bad in the House and Senate but it will be embarrassing how Romney and Ryan totally clean house. If I'm wrong and this election is close or Obama wins, there can only be one answer why or how did it happen. Left-wing social policies are predicated on giving more and more Americans more and more benefits and demanding less and less from them. The Democratic Party wants more food stamps, more free healthcare, more free contraceptives or abortions and free breakfast, lunch and dinner for school children paid for by the taxpayer.

Have the left and Democratic Party sufficiently weakened the character of enough Americans to enable the demonization of Romney-Ryan and lead Obama-Biden to victory? Let's pray not.

Gold Beach

U.S. taken for a

99-year train ride

We have been on a 99-year train ride this year.

1913 The Federal Reserve system was installed by the banking cartel and Congress turned over the money system to private bankers.

We have gone from the greatest creditor nation to the greatest debtor nation in this 99-year ride!

Now for the first time in 99 years our House of Representatives has voted to audit the Federal Reserve by a vote of 327 to 98. If Americans can wake up long enough, we can convince 51 Senators to vote on S 202. Would it not be nice to end the secrecy of this system and see where our tax dollars are really being spent and who benefits?

Write to Senators Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden to urge this up or down roll call vote on S 202. Addresses: Senator Jeff Merkley, 121 S. W. Salmon St., Ste. 1250, Portland, OR 97204; Senator Ron Wyden, Federal Courthouse, 310 W. Sixth St. Rrm. 118, Medford, OR 97501; or call him 541-858-5122.

Remember the Federal Reserve System forces fuel, food, housing, medical care and education costs upward every year.

Everyone who is not on the government dole is forced to make do with less as the value of his or her money slowly decreases.

Write or call today, don't delay.

For an end to the 99 year train ride.

Use money to get vets off the streets

We see so many people holding up "Help" signs nearly everywhere we go these days.

I know many of them are ex-military vets who are unemployed. Then I see so much real money wasted building a fence across the California-Arizona-New Mexico-Texas borders with Mexico.

That kind of money given to the VA could help so many of them get off the streets. We could build homes for them and find jobs for them rebuilding our infrastructure.

That fence reminds me of the Great Wall of China which didn't keep one person from coming to China and it became a tourist attraction. You'd think the American public doesn't know these illegal folks never heard of the Wright brothers or some other company that built shovels with which to dig tunnels as seen on TV.

That fence is the dumbest thing I have ever seen and a colossal wasted amount of much-needed cash that we need right here.

My anger will fall on deaf ears as many other writers have seen of their opinions.

An angry vet,

John Baker
