Frances Louise Brownie Muffenbier, 77, Brookings, died May 5, 2000.

She was born July 9, 1922, in Ilwaco, Wash., to Dewey and Dorothy DeLong.

She grew up in South Bend, Wash., and graduated from South Bend High School in 1940.

After graduation, she moved to Seattle, Wash., and was employed as a secretary, and as a hostess in the Sky Room at the Seattle Airport.

In 1953, she married and in 1955, had a daughter, Melody.

For many years, she was a full-time wife and mother. She enjoyed many hobbies including writing, music and painting.

The South Bend Pacific County Historical Society published her work, an edited synopsis of her fathers life, in the winter edition of the Sou Wester.

Mrs. Muffenbier became a grandmother to Shelby in 1995. Shelby was her only grandchild and the love of her life, family members said.

A memorial celebration is scheduled for June 17 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Manley Art Center, 509 Pine St. Catering will be provided by The Tea Room.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to The American Diabetes Association, 380 S.E. Spokane St., Portland, OR 97202.
