The Curry Coastal Pilot

Artists, musicians and art fans will be celebrating the 100th Second Saturday Art Walk today (Oct. 13) with a round-the-block musical procession honoring the creators and venues.

The procession marking this historic occasion will begin at 3 p.m. and will circle Chetco Avenue and Art Walk Alley between Oak and Willow streets.

The Art Walk will then be under way from 4 to 7 p.m. with all of the participating venues offering art displays, as well as many offering music and refreshments. Special events will be featured at four of the 12 venues.

A local group of dancers will kick off the special events by offering a demonstration of Italian folk dances at 4:30 p.m. at Wright's Custom Framing and Art Supplies.

Then, at 5 p.m., at Brian Scott Gallery, Tom Tanzi will present his personalized "History of Rock" as he entertains with voice and keyboard.

Afterward, things will get hot at Manley Art Center when, at 5:30 p.m., Chip Moore fires up a live demonstration titled "Flame Work Glass Art."

Finally at 6 p.m. at Chetco Community Public Library, Angela Ewing andndash; actor, writer and dialectician andndash; initiates a new Art Walk reader's event as she offers up a humorous story by English writer Marriott Edgar.

Art Walkers are welcome to attend special events and browse venues at their leisure. Participating venues and their offerings are:


A Wild Bird and Backyard General Store,1109 Chetco Ave., features artisans Kathy and Del Grant of Kiss J Company and their antique silver spoon jewelry, bracelets, rings, pendants and scarf rings.


Wright's Custom Framing and Art Supplies,810 Chetco Ave., displays the works of Wendy Malone, pastels and pen and ink. In the private gallery are the works of Audi Stanton and Richard Hinger. Also shown are the works by Barbara Edmiston, Warren Dowler, Vi Burton, Bill Harper, Steve Tadin, Mike Tompkins, Gary Vickerman, Gwen Childs, Len Burton, Bonnie Loewen, Dale Wells, Sara Broderick, Sharon Guinn, Gordon Marsters, Wayne Bricco, Jane Opiat and Christina Olsen. Singalong music will be provided by Carl and friends.


Feather Your Nest, 703 Chetco Ave., entrance in the back, presents an "Altered Art" demo by Dottie Schreiber. Come in and see her Halloween Crows! Handcrafted jewelry by Tammie Tanner. Music performed by Hither Thither and Yon.


Dottie's Corner, 703 Chetco Ave., entrance in the back, will have a display of handmade Swarovski Santas and snowmen.


M Care, Medical offices of Dr. William MacDougall, 648 Chetco Ave, displays digital art and photography by Bob Pope. Music performed by Warren Barr.


Gypsies, 549 Chetco Ave., features Lynn Benton's gourd creations and seagrass baskets. Music performed by Lon and Aura.


Manley Art Center and Gallery, 433 Oak St., has displays of works by Pelican Bay Arts Association artists emeritus, "My Home" thematic art, plus a myriad of additional member masterpieces. Music performed by Marshall Thompson.


Art Walk Alley Antiques, 519 Chetco Ave, lower level, displays the stained glass artistry of Tony Farcello. Music by Giraffes on a Raft.


Brian Scott Gallery, 515 Chetco Ave., will offer riotous mayhem in celebration of 100 Art Walks. The gallery will celebrate Art Walk founders and all they have contributed. Keyboard music performed by Tom Tanzi. Refreshments.


Signatures Gallery, 515 Chetco Ave. shows digital collages by Tom Tanzi, and the Signatures art collection by renowned national and international artists Kevin Roekl, Drew Struzan, Karon Walstad, Thomas Sheets, Duncan Regehr, Sandy Bonney, Jan Kunz, Albert Handell and Harry Lincoln.


Dewey's Digs, the Curry Coastal Pilot conference room, accessed from Art Walk Alley has a photography display by the artists featured on the Lion's Club 2013 calendar. Calendars will be available for purchase. Photographers will be available to sign their calendar page. Music performed by flautist Lorna Rodriguez. Refreshments.


Chetco Community Public Library, 405 Alder St., continues its display of the "Cherish the Chetco" works in the gallery. In the display case are the stained glass creations by Lin Honigsberg.
