Pilot story and photos

The Brookings-Harbor High School gym was converted to a dance arena surrounded by speakers and adorned with colorful lights for the 2005 prom.

A red carpet lead the way from Pioneer Road through a tent to the entrance to the school, giving well-dressed students a feeling of entering the Academy Awards. Valets parked the cars while photographers took pictures of students arriving for the event.

Once in the foyer, students could either have their pictures taken by Newcomb Photography of Grants Pass, enter the dance arena or walk to a classroom that was converted into a lounge where refreshments were served.

By 10 p.m. the bleachers in the balcony were filled with friends and families to view the Grand March. Prom attendees lined up and were introduced under the spotlight.

Following the Grand March, Junior Class advisor Simmie Jones was given a bouquet of flowers to honor her for helping the class organize the event for the past 12 years. This was the last prom she will have helped organize.

The public portion of the prom ended when the junior class court was introduced followed by the seniors. Geri Livingston and Charles Kocher had the honor of crowning seniors Jamie Fairchild as queen and Daniel Bishop as king.
