Under the expanses of the Patterson Memorial Bridge, the Gold Beach Fire Department wowed the folks of central Curry County with a brilliant pyrotechnic light show that showcased scores of fireworks at 10 p.m. over the bay of the Rogue River.

The evening weather was picture perfect and several degrees warmer than usual with minimal winds. There was a beer garden, a rock band, and karaoke earlier before dusk.

The iconic bridge had a patriotic face lift as well with the normally clear lights that rib the structures under arches swapped out for red and blue for the occasion.

The $15,000 firework show lasted exactly 30 minutes banging, booming, and reflecting off the water below.

Colleen Krieger, who headed up the fundraiser for this year’s events, says she “was thrilled with the outcome” and is looking forward to getting started on next year.
