The League of Women Voters of Curry County will hold a special tax districts forum Jan. 23 from 2-4 p.m. at the public library in Gold Beach.

The meeting, planned back in June 2019, is particularly relevant today given ongoing discussions about the future of special tax districts in Curry County, said forum organizers.

A panel of speakers will focus on what are and are not special tax districts in Curry County, as well as how they are funded, managed and governed.

Speakers will include Curry County Assessor Jim Kolen; Julie Retherford, director of the Chetco Community Public Library, a large special tax district in Brookings; and Hal Fitzgerald, chair of the Langlois Water District Board, a small district in Langlois.

Information from the Special Districts Association of Oregon will be provided.

League board member Georgia Nowlin will be the facilitator.
