The 10th annual Gold Beach Rotary 5k (3.1 miles) Turkey Trot Run/Walk will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30.
The theme for this year is “Crazy Socks.” There will be prizes for the best costume, the fastest male and female runners, the fastest male and female walkers, and prizes for both the youngest and oldest participants.
Everyone is welcome to join in this family friendly community event, and burn off a few of those Thanksgiving dinner calories in the process. Kids younger than 10-years-old may ride their bikes. Turkey Trot has become a family tradition for many locals, as well as for folks visiting Gold Beach.
Participants will start at the blue Port Building, 29891 Harbor Way, across the street from the Gold Beach Post Office. Registration begins at 8:15 a.m. The entrance fee is a donation of a minimum of two cans of food or other non-perishable food items per participant, which Rotary will deliver to the food banks in Gold Beach.
This local tradition is one of over 1,300 Turkey Trots held all over the United States around Thanksgiving, with the goal of burning off some of the calories consumed during holiday feasts of turkey, stuffing, and pies. Join the fun and start your own holiday tradition.
