Curry County

Brian Scott Gallery

Brian Scott Gallery, located at 515 Chetco Ave. in Brookings, showcases more than 25 artists. The current Artist of the Month is Les Cornish. Fog and Fine Art Gallery

Located in Wright’s Custom Framing and Art Supply at 810 Chetco Ave. in Brookings, the Fog and Fine Art Gallery displays many local artists showing a variety of media including jewelry, pottery, painting, and more. The Gallery also has a dedicated classroom that inspires new and seasoned artists with workshops. The Gallery is open from 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday. Del Norte County

Art in Public Places

The Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness’ Art in Public Places exhibit in the Del Norte Superior Court at 450 H St. in Crescent City is a collection from artist Pauline Holmes entitled “Local Scenes Plus a Llama.” The exhibit has been extended and is available for viewing through June 18. The courthouse is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays except for state holidays. DNACA’s Art in Public Places exhibit on the mezzanine of the CEC airport at 1650 Dale Rupert Rd. is an exhibition of works by Pauline Lodolini entitled “Art Inspired from Animals and Traveling.” This show is available for viewing through June 18. The airport terminal’s regular hours are 6 a.m.-8 p.m. weekdays, 6-10 a.m. and 5-8 p.m. Saturdays, and 6 a.m.-2 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. Sundays. For more information, contact DNACA at 707-464-1336 or

Arts for Veterans Virtual Poetry Writing Workshops

Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness (DNACA) presents “virtual” Poetry Writing Workshops with teaching artist Billie Ruth Furuichi, every Wednesday and Thursday, May 6 through May 28 at 6 p.m. The workshops take place through Zoom meetings online; participants should have a smartphone or computer with webcam and audio abilities. This event is part of DNACA’s Art for Veterans program, and is free for veterans, active military, and their families. The veteran does not need to participate for family members to participate. Arts for Veterans Drum Circle

Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness (DNACA) announces that their Drum Circle planned for Saturday, May 30 has been canceled. For more information on future activities, check the calendar at or events listings at

California Redwoods Art Association

In light of the California Department of Public Health mandates, the California Redwoods Art Association is closing the gallery and canceling classes and events for the foreseeable future. Claire Heasler is the Artist of the Month at the 2nd Street Gallery. Other exhibits include Susan Humphry at the Del Norte County Library, Catherine Balck at the Wild Rivers Foundation offices, with Carol Long and Nancy Bachmann at the Sutter Coast Hospital Infusion Center. There are an additional 35 individual artists’ work on display in the Main Hall at Sutter Coast Hospital. The 2nd Street Gallery will be open by appointment only for the foreseeable future. Coast Redwoods Art Association

Coast Redwoods Art Association’s Crescent Harbor Art Gallery is located at 140 Marine Way in Crescent City. The Artist of the Month is Bettie Belitz, who has created art works in clay, watercolor, pen and ink, acrylics, and oils. The Del Norte County Library at 190 Price Mall is also displaying work by Eva-Marie Tanner-Klaas through May. For more information, call 707-464-9133.

Coloring Book

DNACA’s coloring book “Colorful Critters of Del Norte County” is a great way to engage students with a home art and learning project! This book is hand drawn by local artist Rosemary Garcia, highlighting the “wild side” of Del Norte County with colorful critters. The coloring book includes captions in English, Tolowa, and Yurok, and at the end of the book are interesting facts about each of the 17 featured animals. “Colorful Critters of Del Norte County” is available at these local outlets: Del Norte Office Supply at 240 I St., the Mail Room at 900 Northcrest Dr., and the Yurok Country Visitor Center at 101 Klamath Blvd. in Klamath.
