Organizations serving residents of Del Norte or Curry counties are invited to apply for the Humboldt Area Foundation’s Community Grant Program by Feb. 3.

Program organizers said it prioritizes applicants who utilize collaborative relationships and partners, as well as promote leadership skill development for youths and residents.

Sara Dronkers, the foundation’s director of grantmaking and nonprofit resources, said recent recipients have included the Cultural Fire Management Council, supporting traditional Native burning practices; the Curry Child Abuse Intervention Center (Wally’s House), for the purchase of recording equipment; and the Healy Senior Center of Southern Humboldt, for its meals on wheels program.

Organizations encouraged to apply include 501(c)3 nonprofits, public schools, government agencies, Indian tribal governments, and community groups with a qualified fiscal sponsor.
