Details for PACIFIC VISION MEDICAL CENTER ANNOUNCES
PACIFIC VISION MEDICAL CENTER ANNOUNCES CHANGES TO EYE CARE IN OUR COMMUNITIES After over 30 good years and due to a confluence of circumstances, we regretfully made the decision to close our Brookings office at the end of this year. We will continue to provide ophthalmology and optical services in our Crescent City office. In addition to this change comes the retirement of our optometrist of almost 25 years, Karl A. Bruhns, OD as of December 31, 2020. He will be missed greatly by staff and patients. We congratulate him on a job very well done, and wish him all the best as he begins this new chapter in his life. Finally, with Dr. Bruhns’ retirement our focus will now turn more specifically to ophthalmology (medical and surgical) services for those most in need of our skills. For many years we have participated with VSP (Vision Service Plan). This is an insurance that some local employers provide to their employees designed to meet routine vision needs including glasses and contact lenses. While we will continue to participate with Medicare and Medi-Cal, we will not participate in VSP as of January 1, 2021. There are several local optometrists who offer routine eye care for VSP patients. We have truly enjoyed caring for our community for many years and look forward to our more focused role moving forward.
