Ambiance by the Sea, a home and garden store, has opened at 530 Hemlock St., Brookings.

A grand opening celebration will be held today, in conjunction with the Second Saturday Art Walk, from 3 to 6 p.m. The public is invited to visit the store, enjoy refreshments and have a chance to win prizes.

Watercolors by the late Liz James is being featured this month. Her work is on display throughout the shop.

Cedar and redwood birdhouses created by a master craftsmen and stained glass work by local artists are among merchandise offered, along with bonsai and many other items suitable for gifting or the home.

Harwood also plans to have classes at the store in the future.
